Beer is meant to be shared among friends. There’s nothing better than a pint or two with your buddies after work or at a backyard barbecue. When the beer is homebrewed, it’s even better - and more personal.

That’s my aim for Homebrew with The Hat, a down-to-earth homebrewing site. My focus is more about the fun and individual aspect of homebrewing. I’ll include some technical information and practical instruction, but only enough to make it seem legit.

After all, hobbies should be fun. More than ever, we need relaxation and relief from the stresses of the world. I do take my brewing seriously; just not more seriously than I should.

There are many different reasons for people to make their own beer. Some love the science and chemistry of it. Others are gadget junkies, drooling over the latest homebrewing equipment innovations. Still others combine their love of cooking with the craft of brewing for a complete homemade meal. I’m hoping I’ll have something for everyone.

My philosophy is always about the fun of creating and personalizing my beer. It’s an extension of myself, a way to share a part of me with others. To me, that’s more important than achieving whatever the next level may be. We’re making beer, not sending a rocket to the moon.
